The course is made up of 4 units, which cover the broad range of the sports industry.
Two of the units are assessed internally through the production of a portfolio of evidence.

Students will study a variety of different sporting activities as well as developing their knowledge and understanding of key theoretical areas connecting to sports performance.Students will have the opportunity to apply theory to practical performance and develop their potential in a number of activities.The course looks at the following components: The BTEC Extended Certificate is an academic, practical and vocational course.The course is broken down into 60% theory, 30% practical & 10% coursework.This subject will allow students to develop knowledge and understanding of physical activity and performance, in relation to your own physical activity and healthy lifestyle, and sport in a wider context.E kit (top, shorts/skort, socks and non-marking sporty trainers) to every lesson. Additionally, we do not believe in having “girl sports” and “boy sports”.We believe that all students deserve the same experiences in life which will help them to make positive choices in relation to activity levels as an adult. They will either be grouped within their normal classes or set roughly by ability level. We implemented the example around the specification and OCR examplar documents.Our students have been able to see the top band example and apply to their chosen activity.Our Student sports council have given specific sporting examples how each of these are used: All students have 2 x 1 hour PE lessons per week. There is no firm policy on streaming groups by ability; instead each cohort is looked at for its particular needs.Students receive 7 blocks (different sporting activities) throughout the year. Students have opportunity to learn and compete in invasion, aesthetic, rackets, adventurous/ problem based activities and fitness/ athletic activities All Key Stage 4 students have two hours a week of core PE time (year 10: 1 x 120 minute lesson & year 11: 2 x 60minute lesson).
